Chartered Accountants Charity Golf – For the third year in a row, accountancy firm Haines Watts Swindon are sponsoring a charity golf day at Wrag Barn in Highworth. The purpose being to raise funds for Hft – a charity that supports people with learning disabilities.

Not only has Haines Watts sponsored the event and donated prizes for the winning teams on the day, but they have also entered a team for the golf day. It takes place at Wrag Barn, Shrivenham Road, Highworth on Friday June 9.

Haines Watts will donate the funds raised from the charity golf day to Hft. The charity provides a range of services to those with learning disabilities across England and Wales. Hft pioneers the idea that adults with learning disabilities have the right to choices about how they live. Choices that enable them to lead the best life possible, including supported independent living.

Martin Gurney, partner at Haines Watts, said ‘We’re in full support of the mission and values of Hft. Their dedication to supporting their clients is admirable. We’re glad we can partner with them and Wrag Barn to make a noticeable difference.’

A fondly-held charity

This charity is very close to the hearts of those who support the annual fundraising event. That includes Wrag Barn directors Tim and Verity Manners and club members Rosalind and Christopher Cliff.

Martin said: ‘Having raised £11,000 at last year’s event, we’re looking to exceed this amount this year. So we’d encourage anyone who enjoys a good round of golf to sign up and enjoy the day whilst giving to a good cause.’

Now in its 33rd year, Wrag Barn’s fundraising events for Hft have raised in the region of £200,000. Golfers enjoy a round of golf across 18 holes and brunch. And they also take part in an auction and raffle after dinner.

Haines Watts has offices located in Old Town Swindon and Cirencester. Nationally, Haines Watts is a top-fifteen firm of Chartered Accountants. In 2020 they received the accolde of Accountancy Firm of the Year and a mention in the FDs’ excellence awards. In 2021 they found themselves named as one of the UK’s top ten accountancy practices to work for. That came after investment in staff wellbeing, cultural development and mindfulness support across the pandemic.
