We chose to call our company Fabb because we make each and every piece of our furniture Fabb for you.

Much of it is made by our experts in our own workshops. And we can say experts because we’ve been making furniture for 150 years. This means that we can control the design and the quality. And also keep costs down by cutting out the middleman.

We know that, only when you get the look you’re after, at a quality you can see and touch, and at a price that’s great, you will say … that’s Fabb!

Fabb Furniture is an independent furniture retailer. They have twenty-one stores across the UK, and two more opening by the end of this year.

The firm prides itself on their passion and desire to provide unbeatable value for their customers. Many of their sofas and mattresses are handmade in their own Fabb workshops. That keeps prices as low as possible. We offer a lifetime guarantee on all our products and provide industry leading finance options.

Formerly known as AHF, Fabb Furniture, has a long and prosperous heritage. Thanks to 2018’s Airsprung brand acquisition of our company, we can boast of 150 years of mattress-making. And over forty years making sofas. So, as you can see, we know a thing or two about furniture design and manufacture.

We’re proud to remain a UK manufacturer employing over 500 people across sites in Chorley (sofa design and crafting), Bristol (headboards) and Trowbridge (mattresses).

About Airsprung

Anyone of a certain age will well know the Airsprung brand – it’s a giant in the bed and mattress world.

Back in the 1870s, one Hedley Chapman sent out his first circular advertising his Trowbridge-based mattress-making business. His circular ended with the promise that ‘any work shall be in a most satisfactory manner, fairly priced and with the utmost promptitude.’

By 1800, the same year as the first cricket test match in England, the Chapman’s of Trowbridge firm established itself. The company changed its name to Airsprung beds at a later date in its long and illustrious history – 1933 to be precise.  In that same pre-WWII period the company introduced the interior spring mattress to the UK.

The Swinging Sixties

Come 1968, in the same year that the Beatles released Yellow Submarine, Airsprung moved to its current site at Canal Road in Trowbridge.

An early partner for the burgeoning home shopping and on-line markets, Airsprung were swift to realise the importance of effective logistics for their future success. Via their partnership with leading digital brands, they pioneered efficient home delivery, collect and recycle and next-day distribution systems.

The current Airsprung site covers 28 acres. That’s the equivalent of 18.5 football pitches! What’s more, they make over 80% of their fillings from recycled plastic – some from ocean bound plastic bottles.

From that first advertising circular, Airsprung mattress and beds have gone from strength to strength – or should that be from spring to spring? At the Trowbridge factory, mattresses are still hand-tufted. And, much as silver and gold is hallmarked, each mattress bears a marker of the craftsman that created it.

Over 140 years from that first circular, Hedley Chapman’s fledgling business has grown into one of the UK’s largest bed manufacturers. The company has steered innovation in the bed-making industry. It’s in the vanguard of mattress manufacturers developing pocket spring units and Fabb Furniture is very proud to be a part of this rich heritage.
