YOUNG PEOPLE CELEBRATE SUCCESS WITH THE PLATFORM PROJECT
The Platform Project’s Celebration Event showcasing new talent in Swindon
Platform Project Interns Celebrate Success
The Platform Project, a youth development organisation based in Swindon’s Dorcan area is holding a celebration event. The reason being to honour the work of young people who have benefitted from its services.
The project runs a ‘training workplace’. Here young people develop their employability skills, confidence and CV experiences through live, trading yout- led business projects. The organisation was set up by local entrepreneur Sadie Sharp. Since launching four years ago, the project’s helped over 100 young people improve their employability prospects.
Congratulations and jubilations!
Sadie said: ‘We’re hosting a celebration event to showcase our latest group of entry level talent to potential employers. Our current interns have been building their work ready skills. They’ve undertaken a variety of projects including:
1. Writing blog posts
2. Graphic design for magazine sand building websites
3. Designing and producing their own branded products and shooting promotional videos.
We hope business owners and employers from across Swindon will show their support.’
The event will be at The Platform Project’s premises in Faraday Road, Dorcan, at 5pm on Thursday the 14th of October. It will be an open evening and networking event too.
The organisation is welcoming local professions, organisations and other youth agencies to the event along with prospective young people and their parents. They can visit the project to learn more about how it can support young people to launch their careers.
Sadie Sharp, said ‘We’re so proud of both the young people we work with and their standout achievements. We’d love for more people to come and visit us and talk to the interns. Talking to our interns about what they do and how it could lead to employment opportunities would be so valuable.
‘Many of us have missed face-to-face networking events so we’re looking forward to the interns practicing their networking skills and making new professional contacts.’
The event will include a graduation ceremony for the interns who have finished their programme. It’ll also provide an opportunity for other local youth agencies to discuss how The Platform Project could help the young people they’re working with.
